Kenneth M. Hargreaves, DDS, PhD, received the Louis I. Grossman Award at the American Association of Endodontists annual meeting recently in Philadelphia. The award honors authors for publication of significant research that has made an extraordinary contribution to the field. Dr. Hargreaves has published 141 papers or chapters over the past 24 years and two books. His pain research has been cited in more than 3,900 other papers. In addition to his research and prolific publishing, he also maintains an active practice through the Health Science Center. |

AWARD WINNERS IN ENDODONTICS! The following award winners were recently recognized at the 2008 Annual Session of the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The AAE has partnered with DENTSPLY International to recognize student's excellence in research. Award Categories were for Oral Research Abstracts, Poster Clinic Presentations and Table Clinics. The top ten finishers in each category received a check for $1,000.00. JD Simonton, DDS and Ernesto Trevino, DDS, first year residents in the Advanced Education Program in Endodontics, earned 4th place for their Graduate Student Table Clinic entitled "Small versus Large Volume Cone Beam Computed Tomography for Endodontics." Taylor Cotton, DDS, second year resident, earned a 5th place award for his Graduate Student Oral Research Presentation entitled "A Retrospective Study Comparing Clinical Outcomes After Obturation with Resilon/Epiphany or Gutta-percha/Kerr Sealer." |

CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations to Dr. Ernesto Trevino, 1st year endodontic resident, for receiving an AAE Foundation Research Grant award of $24,000.00 for his research proposal entitled "Role of Dentin Growth Factors in the Induction of an Odontoblastic Phenotype in Stem Cells found in the Apical Papilla." Congratulations to Anibal Diogenes, DDS, MS, PhD and 1st year endodontic resident for receiving an AAE Foundation Research Grant award of $9,800.00 for his research proposal entitled "Expression of TLR4, CD14 and TLR2 in human dental pulp trigeminal neurons." |
